Winging it - Managua here we come

I am not the greatest flyer. I am stoic and rarely let people know I am uncomfortable, however, my body outs me every time. My shoulders mysteriously move up 4 inches toward my head so I not longer have a neck, and my palms sweat. Not a regular sweat...it is like the amazon has moved, and now resides in my clenched fists. As soon as I hear the engine rev up, the flow begins and really never stops until we land. I swear I should be in a puddle by the time we land. Thankfully there are small mercies, and the oozing palms don't run down my arms into my lap. It seems my body absorbs, then replenishes. Any one else experience this?

So...that said, and after 3 flights and a 17 hour travel day, we made it. The plane did not fall from the sky (as my big brother has assured me "rarely" happens} and sweaty palms and all, it was all worth it.

We landed in Managua and were met with our Spanish speaking Habitat hosts. After smiles, sign language and some questionable driving, we are safely at the most beautiful hotel. You would never know it is a hotel from the outside, but coming through the iron gate we were met with vibrant art, comfy chairs and cold beer. Nothing could have been better.

We ate dinner late, taking in the Spanish language that you can almost touch. It moves through the air in a colourful dance. It draws you in and leaves you wanting more. I want to learn this language.

Today we will discover Managua, and prepare for the rest of the team to arrive. I am so thankful and excited to be here. It is magical.
